School District Taps Creative Funding Options to Improve Safety & Security

Before embarking on an Energy Savings Performance Contract with Schneider Electric, the leaders of Lewis-Palmer School District 38 (CO) made their top priority clear: keeping students safe. The district needed a solution to bolster their security in case of an emergency at three of the district’s elementary schools.

Like many K-12 school districts nationwide, Lewis-Palmer had limited funding to work with. The district was unable to pass a bond to obtain additional funding, leaving them with only limited general dollars to tackle infrastructure projects. But through creative funding sources, the district was able to modernize the safety and security of its facilities, improve classroom comfort, and more.

“It’s so important for our kids to have a safe, warm environment where they can come to school and know that they are protected, that they are supported. Our staff does such a great job, but we also made sure we have the best physical security in our facilities to support them.” -  Dr. KC Somers, Superintendent, Lewis-Palmer School District 38
