COP 26 Panel: Mobile Tech for Net-Zero
Mobile technologies can play a significant role in the net-zero journey. According to research presented by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), smart connected technologies are already enabling carbon reductions that are 10 times the size of the footprint of the mobile industry. The mobile industry is also playing its part by decarbonizing its own operations. In February 2019, the GSMA Board, representing the largest mobile operators globally, agreed on an ambition on behalf of the mobile industry to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest.
During a COP26 GSMA Panel Discussion on #MobileNetZero, Kelly Becker, President of the UK & Ireland Zone at Schneider Electric, spoke alongside an elite suite of guests to discuss how mobile technology can help us reach net-zero. Other panelists include Mats Granryd, the Director General of the GSMA, Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO of Nokia, Dr. Paul Ryu, Executive Vice-President, SK Telecom, Andy Wales, Chief Sustainability Officer, BT Group, Mats Pellbäck Scharp, Head of Sustainability, Ericsson, and Dexter Galvin, Global Director of Corporations and Supply Chains, CDP.
