Schneider Electric's Municipal Innovation Recognized in 2025 E+E Leader Awards

The Piscataway Goes Green project, a collaboration between Schneider Electric's Sustainability Business and Piscataway Township in New Jersey, has been chosen as a Top Project of the Year in the 2025 E+E Leader Product & Project Awards.

The E+E Leader Product & Project Awards is an annual program recognizing excellence in projects that improved environmental or energy management outcomes. Schneider Electric's work with public sector organizations has been consisently recognized in this award program over the last six years.

"Every year, our judges look to recognize the businesses that are truly moving the needle and
striving for sustainability and operational efficiency," says Kay Harrison, VP and head of the
E+E Leader Awards program. "This year’s winners exemplify the kind of forward-thinking
strategies and technologies that companies need to stay ahead in an increasingly complex
energy and environmental landscape."

Piscataway Goes Green: A high-impact sustainable infrastructure initiative

The primary objective of the Piscataway Goes Green project is two-fold: to significantly reduce Piscataway’s energy expenses and carbon emissions while equipping the township with advanced energy solutions to meet its evolving power needs.

Scheduled for completion in 2025, Piscataway Goes Green promises transformative results. Through a comprehensive suite of energy efficiency, resilience and EV technologies, Piscataway's carbon footprint will be reduced by 53%, accompanied by a projected $19.2 million in energy savings over the next 20 years. These outcomes also contribute to enhancing the quality of life for Piscataway residents through both improved indoor air quality in community facilities and more resilient public services.

The judges for the 2025 E+E Leader Awards, an independent panel of experts from more than 20 companies including Hyundai Motor Group, JLL, Air Force OEA, Navitas Partners, UCLA, TRC Companies, IWSI America, Intrinsic Textiles, Climate Social and CapGemini, had this to say about the project:

"The Piscataway Goes Green initiative is a stellar example of how municipalities can use bold, forward-thinking energy solutions to drive real, measurable impact. By combining cutting-edge technology with an innovative financial model, this project advances sustainability and strengthens community resilience and economic viability. The collaboration between Piscataway Township and Schneider Electric illustrates how public-private partnerships can successfully implement large-scale energy transformations, ensuring long-term benefits for residents and the environment alike.”
