The German Sustainability Award for companies honors organizations leading with example in one of the transformation fields of climate, resources, biodiversity, supply chain, or society. The 2021 winners in the climate transformation field are Schneider Electric and the IT service provider GREEN IT Das Systemhaus GmbH. Schneider Electric was awarded for its ambitious climate pledge and the various actions plans and achievements connected to it. A special mention was also made on Schneider’s circularity practices, highlighting the comprehensiveness of Schneider Electric’s approach to sustainability.
“2021 was another game-changing year for us at Schneider Electric with regards to Sustainability: Our Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) 2021-2025 program was announced, which amounts to a significant acceleration of previous targets to act for a more sustainable world. To deliver on this vision for our clients, we are aiming to grow our consulting business to double, innovating on new services and digital solutions made available on a global scale across many areas of sustainability. The decisions and actions of business leaders in the next decade will be some of the most consequential of our lives, and it is an honor for Schneider Electric to stand alongside our clients at the vanguard of this global movement for change. The German Sustainability Award is a great recognition and motivation to go beyond, in Germany, as well as in the rest of the world.”

For the 14 years since its foundation in 2008, the German Sustainability Award honors groundbreaking contributions to the transformation toward a sustainable future in Germany. Innovative ideas for the future and top achievements in sustainability in the fields of business, research, and municipalities are recognized, selected by an independent jury. With eight categories, more than 1,000 applicants, and 2,000 guests at the annual ceremony gala, the German Sustainability Award is an important landmark in the German sustainability landscape.
“Germany's new government starting to work these days has promised nothing smaller that a ‘climate revolution’ for Germany with multiple climate measures designed to keep Germany on the path to 1.5 degrees. In the largest European economy companies play an essential role toward achieving this target, by decarbonizing their own operations and by innovating on climate friendly solutions. We are honored to be under this year’s Award winners, actually as a successor for WILO, last year’s winner, that we are currently partnering with on advancing their climate action program. This is only one of many examples on how collaboration across companies is key to accelerate climate action, and we will fuel this engine with more solutions & service in the coming years.”
